A Season of Thanks and Giving in Sonoma

October 27, 2025

As the holidays approach, Sonoma Valley glows with gratitude from our vineyards and farmers’ markets to our community centers and schools. Giving back is part of what makes this place so special. Whether you’re a longtime local or new to the area, there are plenty of ways to share kindness and make sure every table is full this season. Here are some wonderful ways to volunteer, donate, and connect with the heart of Sonoma.

Local Food Drives & Volunteer Opportunities

FISH of Sonoma Valley (Friends In Sonoma Helping)
A long-standing local nonprofit providing food, clothing, and emergency assistance to Sonoma residents. They always welcome volunteers for food drives, pantry work, and community outreach.

Sonoma Overnight Support (SOS)
SOS provides meals and resources for unhoused residents of Sonoma Valley. Volunteers can help prepare or serve meals, or support donation drives for blankets and warm clothing.

Sonoma Ecology Center
For those who want to give back outdoors, the Ecology Center welcomes volunteers for habitat restoration, community gardening, and educational events, a great way to support both people and planet this season.

Farm to Pantry - Sonoma County
Join fellow community members in “gleaning”: harvesting extra fruits and vegetables from local farms and backyards to share with neighbors in need.

Redwood Empire Food Bank - Santa Rosa
This regional hub supplies food to pantries and families throughout Sonoma County, including the Valley. Volunteers can help sort donations, pack boxes, or distribute food at local sites.

Food For Thought Food Bank - Forestville
This nonprofit delivers nutritious, medically-tailored groceries to people living with serious health challenges. You can volunteer by sorting food, helping with deliveries, or organizing your own mini food drive.

Sonoma thrives because of the people who care for one another. Every can of food, hour of service, and kind gesture adds up to a stronger, more connected community.
Whether you help out at a local food bank, collect donations, or share a warm meal with someone who needs it, you’re part of what makes Sonoma so special.

This season, let’s all take a moment to give thanks, Sonoma-style.
